Encourage a Deeper Understanding of Class Material

Dr. Su Gupta is a professor at the University of Alabama. She teaches sophomore-level introductory Materials Science and Engineering classes. Her biggest challenge before using CampusKnot was engaging a large class and retaining students’ attention. Her biggest challenge was finding an effective way to keep her students engaged and interested in the material.

Dr. Gupta decided to try using CampusKnot, a cloud-based educational platform, to help her with her teaching. With its interactive features, she created polls and prompted students to ask questions related to the polls submitted, which resulted in students having a deeper understanding of the material.

During the first semester, Dr. Gupta found that CampusKnot found that the polls and feeds were particularly useful for keeping her students engaged and helping them to better understand the material. These features allowed her to assess her students’ understanding of the material and track their progress.

The data was used to identify areas for improvement. She found that her Quizzes and Test performance increased to 80% class average compared to 75% from previous semesters. In her own words, “The polls and quizzes have been a great way to check for understanding and keep my students interested.”
